Tournament Recap:
With Alaska State titles up for grabs this tournament attracted players from other parts of Alaska to include Fairbanks, Kodiak, and Juneau, along with the 2018 Pacific Northwest Regionals Men’s Open Runner Up Jason Samora from Coos Bay, Oregon. Jason was teamed up with Jesse Keaveny who was making his first tournament
appearance since his injury, Jeese was quoted as saying:
“9 months ago I was laying on the court with a torn Achilles’ tendon,
wondering if I would be able to walk normal again, to come back and be able to win the Alaska state Open doubles with Jason Samora was awesome.
I know it was mainly him but I’m thankful just to be on the court at this level again”
Along with the Open title, Jason & Jesse also took the win in the All-Age division, In the Men’s B/C Terri Marceron & Cathy Law took the win never losing a game, We had 10 Juniors who were placed into a 5 team blind draw – round robin with the Brother & Sister team of Addy & Jace taking the crown.
Thank You to Scott’s Heating & Plumbing (Scott Pillians) & Alaska Spiritwear (Josh Wood) for your continued support & sponsorship of the Alaska State Doubles tournament your generosity allows us to make this event something to remember.
