Doubles Shuttle Saturday January 31

Women's Shuttle Sunday February 1

The Alaska Club Midtown will be hosting a "Racquetball Doubles Shuttle" on Saturday January 31, There will be two sessions the first for Open/A Teams from 1-3pm and the B/C Teams from 3:30-5:30. This is the last chance to get in some practice with your partners before the State Doubles tournament, along with testing your endurance level. Players are required to show up 1 half hour prior to start time (12:30pm & 3pm) at 15 minutes after spots will be given away to stand by teams.

How do shuttles work?: Teams will be ranked according to the Alaska State Rankings with the highest ranking teams starting on the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and working down to the LOWER SEEDED PLAYERS on the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS. Once the Whistle is blown to begin play the players will play until the whistle is blown once again to stop play (7 Minutes Later), Winners will move UP 1 court toward the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS while Losers will move DOWN 1 court toward the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and both shall be ready to start the new game within 30 SECONDS. Play will continue for 2 Hours with the winners being determined by total number of MATCH WINS.

The cost of the Shuttle is $15 PER TEAM (Sign up sheet said per person?) and is open to the first 16 teams to signup. We will payout to the top 4 teams. If your interested in playing send me an e-mail ASAP or call me 242-7470.

Calling all lady Racquetball players

The 2009 State Double Racquetball Tournament is scheduled for February 5-8 at the Mid-town Alaska Club. We will be offering a Women's Doubles category wherein we will pair a Open/A player with a B/C player in a blind draw. This ensures a more fair and competitive bracket. If you are interested you can download an entry form or you can e-mail me (Robin Rodriguez) and I will put your name in.

SECONDLY, we are offering a women's shuttle on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the mid-town club. I know this is Super Bowl Sunday that is why we are playing in the morning. For all those that will be playing in State Doubles - we will hold the blind draw before the shuttle begins so that you practice with your partner. For those that will be playing in the State Doubles but are unable to make the shuttle, you will still be paired up with a partner.

The fee for the shuttle is $10 which will go towards pizza and refreshments after the two hours of continuous play. The rules will be explained at the shuttle. Two important things to remember - go to the bathroom before you start as you will not be able to during play and secondly, pace yourself because it is two hours of continuous play.

The last shuttle we held was a blast, if you know anyone that would be interested feel free to e-mail Me Robin Rodriguez or Tim Keaveny if you wish to play. These are the names of the women who showed up to play Sunday morning, I would like to tell you all the results but somewhere between the Club and home I lost the results sheet. Needless to say everyone seemed to have a GOOD Time and the competition was even better, after 15 rounds of play we all sat around and ate pizza before heading home to watch the Superbowl.
