Welcome to version 2.0 of the Alaska Racquetball Homepage!! The Website was created on January 18, 1998 after reading one book (HTML in 24 Hours) since then both Sharon and I have learned so much more about websites and thus version 2.0 was born. We will continue to bring you all the news about current Alaskan Racquetball Events along with a large archive of past events. We will post as much information as we receive from the Tournament Directors along with the Alaska State Racquetball Association Board to include; AARA Board meetings minutes, AARA Board announcements, Tournament Information, Drawsheets, and Photos. We also do our best at keeping up with Alaskan Players as they compete in out of state Tournaments. We also will post anything you would like us to pass along such as Old Photos, New Babies, Weddings, Graduations ect just e-mail us and we'll get it online asap. 2010 Alaska State Doubles Championships

The 2010 Alaska State Doubles will take place at the Alaska Club Midtown February 11-14, 2010, Divisions will be offered to Women, Men, and Juniors of all SKILL Levels from Novice to Open including ELITE (Not listed in entry form) along with OPEN Age events starting at 24 & Under up to 65+, Mixed Doubles will also be played. Players are allowed to enter 1 Skill,
1 Age & 1 Mixed division for a total of 3 (The 3rd Event MUST be Mixed Doubles) if competing in three events no time conflicts can be honored. Entry Fees: $50 Alaska Club members and $60 nonmembers per participant for the first event; $15 for second/third event $25 for Juniors (18 yrs & under) for first event Juniors must play in a Junior division as their first event to receive this special price. Entry deadline: Applications must be turned in to The Alaska Club Midtown by 10pm on FRIDAY February 5. No refunds will be given after the draw is posted. No team will be entered unless entries are received from both team members.

All tournament participants will be required to pay a $15 AARA membership fee. If you are a current United States Association of Racquetball (USAR) member then you will not need to pay another membership fee. Anyone in need of a partner in any division PLEASE Contact me ASAP and I'll try to team you up with someone.

You may list one time conflict and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. If you DO-NOT list a conflict on your application, no changes will be made after the draw has been posted THANK YOU for your support.

Doubles Shuttle Saturday February 6, 2010


The Alaska Club EAST will be hosting a "Racquetball Doubles Shuttle" on Saturday February 6, There will be two sessions the first for Open/A Teams from 1-3pm and the B/C Teams from 3:30-5:30. This is the last chance to get in some practice with your partners before the State Doubles tournament, along with testing your endurance level. Players are required to show up 1 half hour prior to start time (12:30pm & 3pm) at 15 minutes after spots will be given away to stand by teams.


How do shuttles work?: Teams will be ranked according to the Alaska State Rankings with the highest ranking teams starting on the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and working down to the LOWER SEEDED PLAYERS on the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS. Once the Whistle is blown to begin play the players will play until the whistle is blown once again to stop play (7 Minutes Later), Winners will move UP 1 court toward the LOWER NUMBERED COURTS while Losers will move DOWN 1 court toward the HIGHER NUMBERED COURTS and both shall be ready to start the new game within 30 SECONDS. Play will continue for 2 Hours with the winners being determined by total number of MATCH WINS.


The cost of the Shuttle is $15 PER PERSON and is open to the first 8 teams to signup. We will payout to the top 3 teams, If 8 teams enter payout will be: 1st Place $100, 2nd Place $60, and 3rd Place $40. If your interested in playing send me an e-mail ASAP or call me 242-7470.

** Play starts this Thursday night **


The first Racquetball tournament of 2010 will be The "Alaska Open" and will take place January 14-17 at The Alaska Club Midtown, deadline to enter is FRIDAY January 8 (the draw will be done by Sunday night). Once again both Singles (Skill & Age) and Doubles (Mens, Womens, & Mixed) divisions will be offered along with Junior events. Players are permitted to compete in only 1 skill division. Since Mens and Womens along with Mixed Doubles was mistakenly left in the entry form we will allow you to play in up to 3 events (3rd division MUST be MIXED Doubles) but you must not have any time conflicts and are able to start  play on Thursday night. Juniors MUST compete in a JUNIOR'S division 1st in order to receive the discounted price of $15. Just as a reminder, 1st round matches can start as early as 5:30pm Thursday, You may list a one time conflict on your entry form and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. NO TIME changes will be made after the draw has been posted.

The next tournament is the 2009 Christmas Classic which will take place at The Alaska Club - Midtown Thursday - December 10 through Sunday - December 13. ENTRY Fees: $30 members and $35 nonmembers for the first event; $8 for second and third event (3rd Event MUST be Mixed Doubles) $15 for Juniors (18 yrs & under) for first event. All tournament participants will be required to pay a $15 AARA membership fee. If you are a current USA Racquetball (USAR) member, then you will not need to pay another membership fee. Juniors must play in a Junior division as their first event (ONLY to receive the Special Price).  Just as a reminder, 1st round matches can start as early as 5:30pm Thursday, You may list one time conflict on your entry form and we will do our best to accommodate. If we cannot schedule around your conflict, you will be notified prior to draw completion. If you DO-NOT list a conflict on the application, no changes will be made after the draw has been posted.

OK we ended up with 60 players competing in 12 different divisions, Mixed Open did not have enough entries and will not be contested, We also did not have many sign up for the Age events so it became 1 division we called Men's 25+.

On Saturday the AARA Board will be serving Lunch to include Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Homemade Pies, If you would like to bring a dish to share with your fellow players PLEASE fill free to do so.

2009 Four Wall Turkey Brawl


The next Anchorage tournament will be the 2009 Four Wall Turkey Brawl November 12-15 at The Alaska Club - Midtown. Once again both Singles and Doubles divisions will be offered along with Junior divisions. Players may compete in up to 3 events (If playing 3rd Event it must be Mixed Doubles). Entry Deadline is Sunday November 8 @ 6pm. All tournament participants are required to be current AARA members. If you are a current US Racquetball (USAR) member, then you will not need to pay the $15 AARA membership fee. Entry fee includes Court Time, Balls, Lunch on Saturday, Refreshments throughout the tournament provided by Coke-Cola of Alaska, A Really GREAT Tournament Shirt, and Turkeys will be awarded to all division finalist.

Ok we ended up with 72 players competing in 15 different divisions including 6 Women's doubles Teams, With the tournament starting on Thursday (for most players) we are going to be quite busy PLEASE be sure to show up 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time ready to play, This will help keep matches running on schedule. The AARA will be conducting 2 referee clinics during the tournament one Thursday night @ 6:30 and another Saturday @12.
